Brother Sewing Machines

Brother sewing machines have been manufactured for decades, and they are a reliable leader in the industry.
The company manufactures machines in every price range, so you can get a very high quality machine for frequent use, or buy one for your child or teen who is just learning to sew without too much money out of pocket.
Brother’s machines fall into three basic categories: quilting machines and sergers (also known as overlock machines); embroidery machines; and standard sewing machines (which all tend to have some embroidery capabilities).
Sergers, or overlock machines, are machines that use multiple spools of thread, two needles, and a cutting blade to achieve a professional looking seam.
Turn a manufactured garment inside out, and you will probably see an overlock seam. There are lots of threads in an intricate pattern finishing the edges of the fabrics where they are connected.
Quilting machines are those machines that are manufactured specifically with quiltmakers in mind. They are good both for piecing the quilts and for doing machine quilting through several layers of fabric plus batting.
You can also use them for appliqué techniques. Many of the quilting machine models also have large table-like surfaces surrounding the arm, so the fabric can sit nicely and not be pulled down by gravity.
Some quilting-focused Brother sewing machines also have computerized technology, similar to what you can find in their higher end embroidery machines.
You can design your own quilting patterns or embroidery designs on your computer and download them to the sewing machine, which will then stitch that pattern for you.
Brother’s embroidery machines range from small models that look like regular sewing machines to larger ones that look like something you’d see in an embroidery store.
The smaller models have maximum embroidery surface areas of five by seven inches. They have LCD screens and come preloaded with some designs, although you can add your own as well.
The larger models hold multiple cones of thread, like the sergers do, and they work much faster and on larger pieces.
The range of Brother sewing machines available means that there is something for every crafter!
