Is A Portable Sewing Machine A Waste of Money?

Do you tend to travel and take your sewing with you? A portable sewing machine may just be the best investment you could possibly make.
Do you think that a portable sewing machine will make you sacrifice functionality for portability? Think again!
These little machines definitely put power behind the phrase “dynamite comes in small packages.” (I mean that in a good way of course.)
Although the two things that will typically draw someone to a portable machine are its’ light weight and ease of transportation, there are plenty of other reasons to invest in one.
In fact, once you see what all these machines are capable of, you may just trade in your current machine for a portable!
Some of the product descriptions on portable machines would make you think that they were mislabeled.
Just because a machine is easy to tote around doesn’t mean that it can’t do much. For instance, Brother offers a portable machine for under $80 that has nineteen different features, including a four-step buttonhole maker, ten different types of stitches, a fast bobbin winding system, and a built-in light.
Portable sewing machines are also a great choice for beginners. They’re easy to carry to class, they’re inexpensive, and depending on the brand you buy, may have just as many functions as a standard machine.
There are even miniature portable machines on the market that have only the absolutely basic features. For children that want to learn to sew, these are terrific!
If you’ve been looking for a machine that’s easily transportable and won’t cost you an arm and a leg but still allows you to be as creative as you want to be, look into buying a portable sewing machine.
Some are small enough that they can even fit into a backpack. Anyone that has ever had to carry around a heavy sewing machine for even a short time will tell you this could be a huge advantage over other machines.
