Viking Sewing

Husqvarna Viking sewing machines are found worldwide and offer a range of options for today’s sewers and crafters.

You can purchase basic sewing machines with just a few preset embroidery stitches, or you can go for the granddaddy of them all – the new Designer SE. This is a machine that may even make non-crafting gadget people go ga-ga.

The most exciting aspect of this new machine is its control panel. It has a large screen with stylus technology, like you have on your Personal Data Assistant.

Using this screen, you can draw your embroidery designs straight onto your sewing machine, and the machine’s onboard computer automatically translates it to an embroidery pattern.

It even employs a 3D technology, so you can see what the designs will look like when stitched, including color variation and shadowing to add dimension.

And the piece de resistance? You can even resize designs. Tell the machine what size you want the design to be, and it automatically calculates the necessary stitches. Coordination just got a whole lot easier.

If you’re more comfortable with a mouse than a stylus, no worries! The machine is set up to accept input from a USB mouse, as well.

You use the stylus or mouse to choose all settings on your Husqvarna Viking sewing machine, including for regular sewing. So, straight or zig zag, stitch length, etc…all of that is there on the screen.

The Designer SE also has a sewing advisor function. This function helps you figure out the best way to sew your project. You simply enter the type of fabric and its weight, plus the technique you’re using, and the machine recommends the best stitch for the job.

Another nifty piece of this machine is the automatic cutting system. It automatically cuts the top and bottom thread when you need it to, and when you’re doing multicolor embroidery, it’s smart enough to cut only the top thread, leaving the bobbin thread intact and thereby increasing the strength of the finished embroidery.

I guess you can tell that I’m pretty excited about this machine from Husqvarna Viking Sewing. It is an embroidery crafter’s dream.
